Products Description

Need a safety valve to protect your vacuum conveying system from explosion risks in combustible dust environments?

Guanjiang's Explosion-Proof Vacuum Conveying Safety Valve is a critical safety device specifically designed for vacuum conveying systems in explosive environments. Manufactured using explosion-proof certified materials (ATEX/IECEx), it integrates pressure release and vacuum maintenance functions — effectively controlling explosion risks and pressure abnormalities during powder conveying. Featuring a bursting disc design and spring-loaded mechanism with response time <0.1 seconds, it activates immediately when pressure exceeds preset values for effective pressure relief and system integrity protection.

Key Advantages

ATEX/IECEx Certified

ATEX/IECEx certified explosion-proof structure. Anti-static design eliminates spark generation. Rapid response mechanism (response time<0.1 seconds)for immediate system protection.

±5% Bursting Accuracy

Bursting pressure accuracy up to ±5%. Adjustable pressure setting range: 0.1-1.0 MPa. Stable vacuum maintenance performance.

316 Stainless Steel

Valve body cast from 316 stainless steel with corrosion resistance. Special coating for wear resistance. Long-life sealing materials.

Online Detection

Online detection function for integrity checks. Quick replacement bursting disc design. Visual status indication for easy monitoring.

Temperature Range

-40°C ~ +150°C — suitable for diverse processing conditions.

Vacuum Maintenance

Unique bellows structure ensures rapid pressure release while maintaining vacuum during normal operation.

Anti-Static Design

Prevents electrostatic accumulation — essential for combustible dust environments.

How It Works

The safety valve combines two protection mechanisms for complete system safety:

Bursting Disc Protection

Precision-scored disc bursts at set pressure — provides full bore opening for immediate pressure relief.

Spring-Loaded Mechanism

Maintains normal vacuum operation while enabling rapid closure after pressure event.

Bellows Structure

Ensures vacuum integrity during normal operation with immediate response to overpressure.

Selection & Installation Guide:

Pressure setting: Set bursting pressure 1.1-1.2x normal operating pressure. Never exceed vessel pressure rating.
Location: Install as close to the protected vessel/conveying line as possible. No isolation valves between valve and protected equipment.
Orientation: Vertical installation recommended with discharge directed to safe area (outdoors or dedicated vent).
Maintenance: Test burst disc annually or after any overpressure event. Replace immediately after activation. Never install used or damaged discs.

Applications

IndustryTypical Explosive Materials
Chemical IndustryCombustible dusts (pigments, resins, organic chemicals), solvent processing
PharmaceuticalAPI powders, excipients, active ingredients with explosion risk
Food ProcessingFlour, sugar, starch, spice powders (organic dust explosions)
Metal ProcessingAluminum, magnesium, titanium — fine metal powder conveying
New EnergyBattery material conveying (lithium, cathode/anode powders) — ATEX critical

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why do I need an explosion-proof safety valve for vacuum conveying?

A: During vacuum conveying of combustible dusts (flour, sugar, chemical powders, APIs), static discharge or pressure excursions can ignite dust clouds, causing deflagration. The safety valve provides rapid pressure relief (<0.1 seconds) to prevent vessel rupture and system damage. It also maintains vacuum integrity during normal operation — essential for ATEX-compliant powder handling systems.

Q2: What certifications does this safety valve carry?

A: The valve is ATEX and IECEx certified for dust environments (Zone 21/22). Available certifications include: II 2D Ex h IIIC T...°C Db for dust atmospheres. Additional approvals (CSA, KOSHA, INMETRO) available upon request. Full certification documentation and declaration of conformity provided with each valve.

Q3: How is the bursting disc replaced after activation?

A: The valve features a quick-change bursting disc holder. After activation: (1) Isolate the valve (if isolation valves installed), (2) Remove the disc holder, (3) Replace with a new pre-calibrated disc assembly, (4) Reinstall and return to service. Replacement takes less than 15 minutes. Spare disc kits should be kept in stock for rapid turnaround.

Q4: How do I choose the correct bursting pressure setting?

A: Set bursting pressure 10-20% above maximum normal operating pressure, but below the vessel's design pressure rating. For vacuum conveying systems, consider both positive pressure (potential deflagration) and vacuum rating. Our engineers can calculate the correct setting based on your system's design pressure, operating conditions, and vessel MAWP. Never exceed the vessel's pressure rating.

Q5: Can the safety valve be used for sanitary/food applications?

A: Yes. We offer a sanitary version with 316L stainless steel body, electropolished finish (Ra ≤ 0.8 μm), and Tri-Clamp connections. This version meets FDA and cGMP requirements for food and pharmaceutical applications while maintaining ATEX certification. The sanitary design eliminates crevices and supports CIP cleaning.
